Membership
Membership is open to any resident of Crowthorne who has had a stroke, a mini-stroke
(TIA), or who has a physical disability.
We currently have about 25 members. New members are always welcome. Just
contact any committee member to arrange an initial home visit.
Fees
There is no annual membership fee, just a charge of £3 per session, payable on the day.
Helpers
We currently have seven committee members plus seven other helpers, some of whom are only able to attend occasionally. Additional helpers are always needed.
The types of assistance that you may be asked to
provide will typically include some of the following:
- Help set up the hall – put out chairs and tables.
- Help members to and from the bus to the hall.
- Organise or help with the raffle.
- Help to serve refreshments.
- Socialise with individual members and help them with quizzes and activities.
- Outings – assist members by:
- Pushing wheelchairs.
- Helping with their seating and meals.
- Assisting them on and off the transport.
- Assisting them with purchases (say, at a garden centre).
- Helping them to access a toilet (i.e. showing them where the facility for the disabled is located, and opening doors for them, as required).
If you would like to help, just contact any committee member for a chat.
Any help at all, no matter how limited, will be greatly appreciated.
